PHSt University College of Teacher Education Styria
The University College of Teacher Education Styria is a national and international renowned public educational institution which strives for professionalism in its teachers who are participating in teacher training fields of study. Teaching and learning at the University of Teacher Education Styria are defined by our specialized fields of study which are made up of teacher education, continuing education and further education. These fields of study contribute quality standards to enhance lifelong learning. Furthermore our learning opportunities offer brush up and training courses in other pedagogical and social areas.
International cooperation projects lead to future development of the institution's involvement provided that project results are sustainable ant outcomes are implemented. Therefor the University College of Teacher Education Styria recognizes the importance of the results achieved by their staff members in cooperation projects.
The rector of the University College of Teacher Education Styria is a member of the "European Network of Teacher Education Policies (ENTEP)" in which she acts as a representative of the Austrian Minister of Education. The head of the centre for international relations in education is national expert - European higher education area.
The University College of Teacher Education Styria has been enrolled in inclusive research and special needs education as well as inclusive education for over 40 years. Furthermore, the region Styria in which the University College is located, is one of three Austrian model regions implementing an inclusive school system according to the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Silvia Kopp-Sixt
Lecturer and Study Programme Coordinator for Further Education and Masters studies in the Institute of Professionalisation in Early Childhood and Primary Teacher Education as well as Coordinator for Practical Education in Special Needs Education, Inclusive Education and Mentoring in the Institute of Practical Education and Research, is enrolled in various university related projects as well as national and international research cooperations focusing the professionalisation of student teachers, newly qualified teachers and more experienced teachers on-the-job, team-teaching in inclusive settings and mentoring. She is the representative of the Emerging Researchers Network of the Internationale Gesellschaft für Schulpraktische Professionalisierung (IGSP, Switzerland), board member of the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Forschung und Entwicklung im Bildungswesen (ÖFEB, Austria) and associated member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Erziehungswissenschaft (DGfE, Germany).
